Following such a successful event last year, Ipswich Basketball Club is delighted to announce the 2020 version of our Basketball Skills Challenge on Sunday 18th October. The event will of course be structured differently to ensure it complies with club and government guidelines, but we're confident it will be just as much fun!
Each IBC team will have a slot to ensure that our team bubbles remain consistent, with 1 hour and 15 minutes allotted for each team to complete the series of challenges. 15 minute changeover will allow for the team at the Copleston Centre to ensure that the area is ready for next bubble / team to enter. Players must arrive 15 minutes prior to their slot to complete COVID screening in line with or COVID Club Policy. Players must also bring hand sanitiser and water as well as arriving wearing appropriate clothing for basketball.
The challenge will consist of a series of timed challenges, with teams being tasked with goals such as scoring the most layups, most three pointers and most half court shots in a specific time. All of our challenges will be based around fundamental basketball skills so the day should provide a good training session as well as a chance to have some fun and raise some much needed club funds!
We will have a series of prizes throughout the day and a Leaderboard so individuals and teams can see how they are stacking up against their competition!
We are challenging all players to raise £30 or teams to raise £300 between them. With the loss of the end of last season and the likelihood of reduced (if not entirely lost) ticket sales revenue for the 2020/21 season, as a club we're looking for every possible way to ensure that Ipswich Basketball Club is still able to provide elite level coaching for our young players. All money raised will be reinvested into the teams, with funds providing in vital areas, such as equipment for players and coaches and venue hire for teams.
