The Ipswich Basketball Golf Day is back for its tenth annual running, and after a two-year hiatus, we are delighted to announce that the event returns to its spiritual home of Fynn Valley Golf Club in north Ipswich for the traditional “shotgun start” on Friday, July 22nd.
A staple in the club’s social calendar since 2013, the Golf Day brings together IBC members, supporters and friends for a day of light-hearted but competitive golfing action, with the 18 holes of Fynn Valley playing host to the usual Stableford format as well as longest-drive, nearest-the-pin and birdies competitions.
This year’s event carries a little extra poignancy for those at the club, as we mark the passing of Peter Drane, a stalwart supporter of IBC for over twenty years and a mainstay on the Golf Day since its inception. A keen golfer and the proud father of head coach Nick and former chairman Simon, Peter’s generosity and enthusiasm have helped to make the Golf Day what it is today, and he will be sorely missed by all at IBC.
“It’s always a pleasure to put together the IBC Golf Day, and this year that responsibility carries a little extra weight,” according to Vice-Chair, Robert Schatten. “Peter Drane has always been a cornerstone of the Golf Day and the club is greatly indebted to Peter and his society mates for the support they’ve shown IBC over a number of years.”
We hope to do Peter proud by filling out the entry list for this year’s return to Fynn Valley. The shotgun start format does mean entries are limited to 18 teams of four; two of the last three events have featured more than 18 entries, so we encourage you to download the entry form and submit it to reserve your place as soon as you can.
The entry form can be downloaded here either in PDF or Word format:
All information for how and where to send your completed form is available on the forms above, and if you have any questions please contact us at office@ipswichbasketball.co.uk
This year’s event will cost £45 per player (£180 per team of four). Each participant receives a bacon roll and coffee at registration, 18 holes of golf, entry to the nearest-the-pin and longest-drive contests, and lunch after their round. A raffle and some additional games will be run on the day.
Any partners wishing to support the event can do so by sponsoring a hole for just £60, as part of which you’ll receive a branded banner.
All at IBC thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you at Fynn Valley in July.
