Ipswich Basketball Club is proud to announce a series of heritage-inspired initiatives for the 2026/2027 season as the organisation celebrates 50 years of basketball in Ipswich. As part of the anniversary, all girls’ and women’s teams will compete as the Ipswich Bobcats, while all boys’ and men’s teams will take to the court as the Ipswich Tomcats.
To further honour the club’s roots, Ipswich Basketball Club will also introduce a retro ‘Ipswich Basketball Club’ logo, inspired by logos from the club’s early years. This heritage mark will appear across all club merchandise, team warm‑ups, and selected apparel throughout the season, creating a unified visual identity that connects past and present.

Head Coach Nick Drane reflected on the significance of the anniversary:
“I remember going to watch the Bobcats as a youngster back in the late 80s and early 90s at Maidenhall Sports Centre, and we want to make sure that we recognise the club’s history and those people who laid the foundations for what we have today.”
In addition to the rebrand, the club will soon announce details of a special celebration event, expected to take place during a pre‑season double‑header featuring both senior teams. The event will invite former players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters who have shaped Ipswich Basketball Club over the past five decades.
The 50th anniversary season promises to be a landmark moment—celebrating tradition, inspiring future generations, and proudly showcasing the family culture that has defined Ipswich Basketball Club since 1976.
