Welham Returns

Endeavour Ipswich Basketball Club are delighted to announce that Harriet Welham will be returning to the club for the 2023/2024 season after a two year stint playing professionally in France.

Harriet will play for our Senior Women, taking up her previous role as ‘Club Captain’. In addition, she will be taking the reins of the recently launched ‘Central Venue League’, where she takes on the role as ‘CVL Manager’. Harriet will also be Head Coach of the Ipswich Basketball Club U18 Women, an age group in which we won both the National Cup, and National League Championship in the 2022/2023 season.

Endeavour Ipswich Basketball Chairman Josh Carson had this to say about Harriet’s return to the club “This signing is a signal of our intent to be as competitive as possible in WNBL Division One next season, while we continue to grow the club both in terms of our junior teams coaching staff and expertise, but also the community arm of the club – with the development of our CVL”.

Club Head Coach Nick Drane added “Harriet’s name sit’s at the top of the list of the most influential and best players I have ever coached during my time at Ipswich Basketball Club. She is nothing short of a legend, and her reach and impact will go far beyond what she can do as a player for our women’s team. Her reputation and he achievements speak for themselves”.

During a ten year career with the club, from u14’s to senior’s Harriet’s CV includes the following accolades at Senior Women’s level:

“I am excited to be back. Back with the Ipswich Basketball family, excited to be coached by Nick again, excited to have my family come and watch me play and again excited to help this club win some trophies. There’s no place like home” said Welham.

Since Harriet’s departure in 2021, the senior women have finished 4th and 8th respectively in WNBL Division One, qualifying for the playoffs both years – being knocked out in the first round.
