Endeavour Ipswich Basketball Club and Copleston Basketball Academy star DeAnna Carrington has committed to Christian Brothers University on a full athletic scholarship. The class of 2025 guard has had a phenomenal 2024/25 season that included winning the Senior Women’s National Cup and U18 Women’s National Championship while helping lead Copleston to the WEABL National Championship.
The 5’9 guard was also selected to the 2025 Hoopsfix All Star Classic, and has previously represented England at U15, U16 and U18 level.

CBU play in the Gulf South Conference. DeAnna will be working with newly appointed Head Coach Samantha Davidson.
The tenacious and athletic guard has burst onto the English Basketball scene in the last few years and has established herself as a major contributor in the WEABL and WNBL.
DeAnna becomes the latest in a rapidly growing list of names to come out of the Ipswich programme to be recruited to play in the States.
Carrington averaged a solid 10.7PPG, 8.2RPG and 3.1SPG in her second year playing in the WEABL for Copleston – helping them to the National Championship.
Copleston Basketball Academy and Ipswich Head Coach Nick Drane said “Deanna is a born winner on and off the court. Her character and leadership skills are through the roof and I firmly believe that she will successful at whatever she puts her mind to. She has been with this programme since a young age and has been a major contributor at every age group, and is one of the great adverts for our pathway. She was already a standout player in our junior programme under Coach Kev Manning, before blossoming at our academy. We are all incredibly proud and pleased for her”.
A message from DeAnna: "I’m deeply honoured to announce that I’ll be continuing my basketball career and academic journey at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee. This is more than just a new chapter, it’s a dream come true. The opportunity to grow as both an athlete and a student in such an inspiring environment is something I’ll never take for granted.
I’m so grateful to have been granted this opportunity, though this milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of my family, coaches, mentors, and everyone who has believed in me. Your encouragement, time and faith has fueled me to push through challenges and reach my goals.
To my mum, thank you for being my constant. From driving me to practice after long shifts, to offering comfort and wisdom when things got tough, and showing up to games near and far. You have been my biggest cheerleader. Your love and sacrifice have shaped me more than words can express. And thank you to my dad, who has offered support, equipping me with gear and spreading my successes far and wide.
I'd like to thank Ipswich Basketball Club as they were the ones who taught me the game from the ground up and have allowed me to develop to this stage. I started playing U12s as a hobby and it turned into an essential part of my development playing through the England talent pathway, in the academy and for the Senior Women. I can't imagine what my life would be like without them.
I'd also like to thank my sponsors, for standing by me and enabling me to follow my passion. Your belief in me has meant more than you know. #4MW
And to everyone that has supported me throughout my journey: coming to games, commenting on posts, or sending well wishes. Every interaction is a reason to push harder.
As I step into this new chapter, I’m ready to grow, learn and make you all proud."
