Endeavour Ipswich progressed to the WNBL Division One semi‑finals on Saturday with a 90–76 home win against Worcester Wolves in the playoff quarter‑final.
Worcester made the stronger start and led for most of the first half, at one stage holding a 14‑point advantage. Ipswich reduced the gap before the break, but still trailed 44–39 at halftime.
Ipswich stepped up defensively in the third quarter and were able to move in front through consistent scoring from Harriet Welham, Ashleigh Pink, Angel Whyte and Maya Price. The team also benefitted from increased control on the boards thanks to Holly Ensoll and more efficient offensive possessions.
A key contribution came from Angel Whyte, who was assigned to defend the league’s leading scorer. Whyte held her to seven points in the second half, which played an important role in limiting Worcester’s scoring options as the game progressed.
Ipswich maintained their lead throughout the fourth quarter, with contributions from Maisie Keyes, Welham and Whyte helping to close out the game.
The result sends Ipswich into the semi‑finals, where they will travel to face London Cavaliers, the league champions and National Cup finalists. Ipswich will enter the game as underdogs but will look to build on the consistency shown in the second half of this quarter‑final.
The game will take place on the weekend of the 11/12 April in London.
