Match Report: Ipswich move to 6-3 with Cobham win

Ipswich moved to 6-3 on the regular season on Saturday with a good win against a solid Cobham team, with the date of a National Cup Semi-Final on the road still to be confirmed. The teams six wins is tied for the most in the league, although CoLA remain at the top of the table with a 6-2 record and a superior win percentage.

The league season is quickly moving towards its mid-point, and to date, the 2024/25 WNBL Division One season is a fascinating and open as this league has ever been. While CoLA and Brent boast the least losses, it’s by just a single game, while Ipswich, ARU, Bristol and Loughborough are all in the mix, and are more than capable of challenging the leagues top teams.

Against Brent, Ipswich were led by Harriet Welham, Maddy Wormald and a standout performance from young Maisie Keyes – but it was a whole team effort from the Suffolk side. Eventually winning the game 86-68.

Ipswich now face a dangerous side this coming Sunday, when they host the Bristol Flyers at Copleston at 1pm. Bristol lost bask to back games last weekend, but before that were on a four-game winning streak. Ipswich will need to be at their best to move to 7-3 and keep the pressure on the early pace setters at the top of Division One.
