Match Report - Men lose first game of the season in London

EAST LONDON ALL STARS 118-79 IPSWICH BASKETBALL

NBL DIVISION II

UEL SPORTSDOCK, LONDON

Ipswich were handed a humbling first defeat of the season as a one-sided second half saw East London All Stars coast to a comfortable victory.

Ipswich held a 21-17 lead late in the first quarter but then saw their hosts put together an impressive scoring run based on high-tempo offensive and a gambling, aggressive defence to move into a 42-31 lead by the middle of the second frame.

The two sides exchanged baskets for the remainder of the first half, and Ipswich went in down 12 points at half time, but the third quarter would see East London reach a level that the Suffolk side were unable to match.

“We were poor today,” conceded Coach Adam Robinson. “That's a lesson that we aren't good enough to come into games assuming we can out-score our opponents.”

Bryant led all scorers with 38 points. Luke Mascall-Wright was Ipswich's leading scorer, with 33.
