Match Report: Senior Women take back the lead

Endeavour Ipswich Basketball’s Senior Women’s team bounced back from last week’s overtime loss to CoLA with a hard fought home win against previously undefeated Brent Bulls.

The win moves Ipswich to a league leading 6-1 record, while Brent drop to 4-1. Perhaps more importantly, the game show’s that Ipswich along with the likes of Brent and CoLA, are amongst the league’s leading teams as the season slowly creeps towards the Christmas break.

Brent started the better out of the two teams and looked in command in the early going, taking a 22-14 lead into the first interval. However, from then on, Ipswich found their feet and especially at the defensive end, took command of the game. Ipswich won the remaining three quarters 51-35 allowing them to record one of their most important wins of the season and in the process showed great character after last week’s loss at CoLA.

“I thought we were great, especially in the second half. Brent are a very good team at this level, so we will take the win and get ready for a tough weekend ahead” said Ipswich assistant coach Josh Carson.

Ipswich were led by Liv Forster’s 22 points and a career-high 11 rebounds, including 16 points in the second half. Harriet Welham added another double-double with 17 & 12 while Christabel Osarobo added 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Ipswich are back on the road this weekend where they will face newly promoted, City of Birmingham Rockets on Saturday before travelling to CoLA Southwark Pride on Sunday in the National Cup Quarter Final.
