Weekly Junior Wrap: Last second win for U16 Boys in Kent

It was a largely successful weekend for the Junior teams at Ipswich Basketball with some important results earned as we head closer to the Christmas break.


The U14 Boys kicked off the weekend at home with an 82-48 win against London Thunder. This victory moves them to 6-2 for the season. The U16 Girls followed them at HQ as they were up against Kingston Lions. They got a revenge win with a final score line of 92-43. Important contributions came from Cerys Leach (26), Maia Wiseman (24) and DeAnna Carrington (15). This win continues their ever-impressive start to the season as they are now 8-1.



Away from home on Saturday, the U16 Boys and the U18 Men featured. The U16 Boys won on the road against the Kent Crusaders in a tight game ending 60-59. Tim Rafiu hit the game-winning free throw with 1.5 seconds left to take the victory and avoid overtime. Robbie Cruickshanks top-scored with 26 followed by Matt Liddamore (14) and Kalen Gouldbourne (13).


In London, the U18 Men ended up on the wrong side of a 55-71 score line against London Thunder. On Sunday, the U18 Women continued their unbeaten start to the season as they dispatched of the Haringey Hawks with a final score of 87-52
