Weekly Junior Wrap: U14 Boys victorious against previously unbeaten Baltic Stars

Last weekend was the return of basketball season after the Christmas break and that means the return of the Junior Wrap. The junior teams didn’t disappoint in their first fixtures of 2023 with the U14 Boys headlining the weekend with a big win over Baltic Stars.


The 89-62 victory in London for the U14 Boys brings the race for the South East Premier Conference closer with now only 1 win separating the team from top spot. The U14 Boys are now 7-2, while the weekend’s previously unbeaten opponents, Baltic Stars, are 8-1. This result is a real statement from our U14 Boys team who will now look to make a big playoff push over the remainder of the regular season. Jaziah Mussington top scored with 28 points, he was supported by Jake Woolbridge on 20 points and Anthony Lawicki’s 6 3-pointers.

Elsewhere, The U14 Girls enjoyed a successful weekend as they move to 7-1 on the season. The victory came at home to the Oakland Wolves with a score line of 91-35. Important contributions came from Nina Wadda (25), Tanaia Robinson (21) and Lily Liddell-Mickovski (18).


It was also home delight for the U16 Girls as they came out winners against Luton with a final result of 95-42. Cerys Leach led the scoring with 27 points. Maia Wiseman and Issy Roberts backed up Cerys’ scoring with 19 and 15 points respectively.


The U16 Boys fell to defeat in a tight affair against West Herts. The final score line was 54-48 with Kalen Gouldbourne (16) and Robbie Cruickshanks (13) leading the scoring.


The U18 Boys featured twice this weekend with a depleted squad losing on the road to Haringey on Saturday. Harry Laws top scored with 12. It was better fortunes on the Sunday as they won 106-61 at home to the London Lions. Top scorer was Josh Sowoolu with 20 points, supported by Tyreese Perry-Huggins (15) and Lewis French (13).


There was also a Central Venue League round of games for the U13 Girls which saw them feature three times. They managed to win two of the games with a 48-10 victory against Oaklands U13G and a 44-16 victory against Oaklands U12B. Oaklands U13B Dev did however defeat our U13G 50-33.
